Why We Need To Be More Sustainable3/12/2024 Climate change is a mix of detrimental impacts, ranging from extreme weather events to rising sea levels, biodiversity loss, ice caps melting, and disrupted ecosystems. These changes endanger human health, food security, and water resources, exacerbating poverty and inequality globally. However, individuals can make a significant difference by adopting sustainable practices in their daily lives. Simple yet impactful solutions include reducing energy consumption by using energy-efficient appliances, such as dishwashers, opting for renewable energy sources, minimizing waste through recycling and composting, implementing a plant-based diet, supporting methods like biking or any EV transportation, and advocating for policies that promote sustainability. By collectively implementing these actions, we can mitigate the effects of climate change and foster a healthier, more resilient planet for future generations to come.

I Have A Dream Speech2/21/2024 I stand before you today, not as an advocate for a single race or ethnicity, but as a voice for humanity, a call for equality that recaps what legends once did. I have a dream that one day, the chains of discrimination and prejudice will be broken, and the true meaning of equality will be embraced by all. I have a dream that one day, we will all as a synchronized group in harmony, hew out of the mountain of prejudice a stone of equality. Not all know what the difference is between equal and civil rights; I can assure you the difference is slight but they vary in paths farther apart than a galaxy light years away.
I dream of a world where the color of one's skin does not declare the path they pursue, but where the content of their character reigns. In this dream, diversity is not tolerated but celebrated. I have a dream that in the rooms of justice, the scales will be balanced for every individual, regardless of their socioeconomic status, gender, or origins. No longer will we accept prejudice as an ideal, but something we all universally can accept to lock in a jail of hate. I dream of a world where education is the great equalizer, where every child, regardless of their zip code or family background, has access to quality learning opportunities. In this world, knowledge is not a privilege but a right, a force that empowers individuals to rise far above adversity and contribute to the progress of our shared journey to a perfect society far from today. I have a dream that workplaces will be spaces where talent and diligence are the only currencies that matter. Discrimination and bias will be considered relics of the past, and diversity will be the one thing we all accept in the world to apply in our daily lives. I dream of a society where love is unchangeable, and every individual has the right to choose their path of happiness, free from judgment and persecution. May this dream inspire us to action, as we strive for a world where justice, freedom matter most. The Declaration of Independence is one of the greatest pieces of media in American history. In the document, America proudly claims their independence from Great Britain. After 176 years of pain, perseverance, battles, and blood, America announced its freedom, however on the other hand, in Fahrenheit 451, there is a society in which nothing is free, socially accepted, or allowed. This is anarchy which in the end causes the main city to crumble to pieces from a nuclear bomb. Control, perseverance, and intrepidation is what we have to achieve as a society which isn’t an anarchy, but a group of rules we all follow to live in peace. These rules show what the Declaration of Independence’s influence is on who we are and what we hold accountable for our actions.
The Declaration Of Independence asserts that all individuals are endowed with certain guaranteed rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” (Jefferson 1). Global media should similarly prioritize the promotion of human rights, acting as a watchdog against injustices and crime. Even though a perfect global society is near impossible, media outlets need to play a crucial role in exposing human right violations, advocating for justice, and fostering a global environment that respects the dignity and rights of every individual. However, in Fahrenheit 451, rights are barely valued and aren’t taken seriously. After school, children “go out in the cars and race on the streets, trying to see how close you can get to lampposts, playing ‘chicken’ and ‘knock hubcaps’” (Bradbury 27). This is one of many examples of young teenagers putting one of their friend’s lives in danger. If society accepts this, civilization is on the verge of falling apart just like how the city at the novel’s conclusion “looks like a heap of baking powder” (Bradbury 155). This was caused because of a bomb detonated on the city when it was in the hands of anarchy. The Declaration of Independence could be a catalyst for new awakening critical thoughts and sparking a sense of rebellion among the citizens. Its emphasis on the fundamental rights every individual has directly contradicts the government of Fahrenheit 451’s suppression of knowledge and independent thinking. The document has become a symbol of resistance, a reminder of the values that should be inherent to a free society. By clandestinely sharing or preserving copies of the Declaration, individuals in Fahrenheit 451 can find a source of inspiration to question authority, challenge the status quo, and strive for a society where intellectual freedom is embraced. For example, in Fahrenheit 451, was Mildred living a sustainable life by having walls of television, overdose of drugs, and a husband who is dealing with a life or death situation? The answer is simply no, because everything that is going on in her life has affected her in a negative way, resulting in Mildred leaving the realms of reality and entering into a world of anarchy and chaos. Even though I don’t read the Declaration of Independence often, it remains a special part of who I am for two distinct reasons. Firstly, the Declaration of Independence is specific to America of which I am a proud citizen. Secondly, the document represents who I am; bold, strong, confident no matter what. The Declaration of Independence proves to be a timeless and invaluable document, resonating with significance across historical, philosophical, and social contexts. Its role in shaping the foundation of the United States and its enduring impact on democratic principles and individual rights positions it as a guiding force in American history. Beyond its national importance, the Declaration serves as a symbol of resistance and inspiration, especially in dystopian scenarios such as Fahrenheit 451. In such oppressive environments, the Declaration of Independence becomes a powerful tool not just for Americans but for anyone to draw inspiration from because challenging authority and advocating are mere fundamental rights for what every individual is entitled to have and it is to never be transmuted. “The errors which arise from the absence of facts are far more numerous and more durable than those which result from unsound reasoning respecting true data” - Charles Babbage. The Babbage Difference Engine (“Babbage”), fabricated by the keen Charles Babbage in the 19th century, represents a monumental leap in technological history. It was never fully made during Babbage’s life, its design laid the base and blueprint for the design of modern computers. This intricate machine was designed to compute complex mathematical calculations, a foreshadow to the computers we use today. It symbolizes the beginning of a technological revolution that transformed the world, and shows the industrial culture of the 1800s. If there was one item I would put into a time capsule to capture the dawning of the technological age of the 1800s, it would be the Babbage.

Babbage's vision was far ahead of its time—a mechanical device designed to automate calculations with precision. This visionary concept paved the way for future developments in computing, influencing pioneers like Ada Lovelace, who recognized its potential and contributed to the world of computer science and engineering. The Babbage also signifies “the connection of mathematics, engineering, and innovation. Its design showcases intricate mechanisms and engineering principles that were levels beyond for its era” (computerhistory.org). The Babbage laid a base for the computing devices such as the iPhone and laptop that are now an important part of our daily lives. Secondly, this artifact belongs in the technological age time capsule because it serves as a reminder of the Industrial Age’s peak cultural era. During the 1800s, the world was experiencing a significant shift—a transition into the Industrial Age. This period was marked by a fascination with “progress, innovation, and mechanization. The Babbage en captures this cultural aspect by representing the peak of mechanical ingenuity and scientific exploration” (computerhistory.org). If a person from the year 2050 opened such a capsule and found the Babbage, they would be shocked looking at the great size of the machine and yet not knowing it is the first computer ever invented. This is a symbol for “a work in progress” proving how much we all have evolved. Dubai is a fantastic example of such as they built the city from a barren desert to now one of the most modern metro cities in the world in a span of thirty years. Lastly, the Babbage belongs in my technological age time capsule because it stands as a perfect item representing human ingenuity, surpassing other artifacts, without a doubt. Unlike many other items, this marvel of engineering represents not just a singular invention but a foundational leap into the world of computing, predating modern computers by a century. Putting the first iPhone in the capsule would be showing the evolution of the cellular phone, but it doesn’t capture what technology has become, not only in the palm of your hand, but the reality in which your brain is challenged to make arduous calculations and tasks in a split of a second. In addition, Babbage's influence extends beyond its physical form; it embodies a new shift, “representing the birth of computational theory and laying the groundwork for the digital age we inhabit today.” (computerhistory.org). Its significance lies not only in its historical importance, but in its visionary nature that tells the future of technology. Including the Babbage Difference Engine in a time capsule is not just about preserving an ancient artifact; it's about showcasing the idea of such a product, the advancement of knowledge, and the remarkable journey of evolution in technology—a home base for future generations to look back to and draw inspiration from. Some devices and items that have gotten inspiration have been the calculator because of the arithmetical tech of the Babbage. The calculator has become universally accepted as a help in math because of the Babbage! How insane is that? Belize Winter Trip 2023 Part 21/8/2024 The adventure pressed on along the shores of Ambergis Caye, leading us to the charming retreat known as 'Margaritaville'. Nestled right on the beach, this resort boasted an array of beach amenities and more. However, we soon discovered that the nearest restaurant was a good 30 minutes away! Despite the dearth of nearby entertainment options, we found ourselves happily occupied with rounds of pickleball, leisurely kayaking, and simply soaking in the laid-back vibes for a delightful 7-day stretch.
Belize 2023 Winter Trip Part 11/4/2024 Embarking on our winter 2023 adventure, we kicked off from SFO bright and early at 3:30 in the morning, brimming with excitement for the Belizean wonders awaiting us. Our journey involved a connecting flight from Houston (IAH) to the Belize City Airport, followed by a brisk 15-minute flight to the serene island of San Pedro.
Exhausted from the day's travels, we found respite at the Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club. While the main area didn't offer much, the resort had daily boat trips to a private beach club island, where we spent the majority of our stay. This exclusive spot was equipped with an array of amenities including 6 paddleboards, 8 kayaks, and more. The cherry on top was the beach club's restaurant and bar serving delectable seafood tacos. However, the crown jewel of Belize awaited at Holchan, a magnificent reef reserve boasting an incredible array of colorful fish and coral. Witnessing this breathtaking sight was an absolute highlight of our trip. Our next hotel promised pure seclusion... anticipation builds for what lies ahead... From witnessing the President in action to paying our respects at the veterans' memorials, Washington, D.C. was brimming with countless unforgettable moments. We kicked off our journey in Jamestown, where we gained insight into the lives of early settlers and their economic endeavors. While all the museums were exceptional, the Spy Museum stood out as the pinnacle of our experience. It offered an interactive and thrilling espionage adventure, allowing us to step into the shoes of spy agents and stealthily navigate through iconic landmarks.
Another remarkable highlight was our visit to the Capitol, where we had the unique opportunity to witness the House of Representatives in session. The memorials were awe-inspiring, with our tour guide unraveling the hidden symbolism within each one. The Vietnam War Memorial left the deepest impression, bearing the names of 58,000 American veterans who served in the war. Viewing the memorial from a specific angle made it an emotionally charged experience. The poignant statue, featuring three women representing different aspects of women's roles in the war - faith, hope, and charity - added a powerful layer of meaning. Some of the museums, like the Smithsonian, housed iconic treasures like the Hope Diamond, the largest cut diamond in history. They provided a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of human development, both mentally and physically. Notably, the political buildings were constructed with symbolic intent; for instance, the Treasury, designed by Andrew Jackson, strategically obstructed the view of the Congress from the White House, reflecting Jackson's disdain for Congress. The final and most remarkable memorial was the Jefferson Memorial, reminiscent of the MIT building, and housing a grand statue of Thomas Jefferson. Behind the statue, four items symbolized his essence and legacy: a pillar representing his passion for design, as evidenced by his beautiful Monticello plantation; tobacco, symbolizing his home state of Virginia; corn, signifying his role as a plantation owner, and books, reflecting his profound love for knowledge. In the end, this trip to Washington, D.C. will forever hold a special place in my heart as an indelible and cherished memory. We departed from Barcelona early in the morning and headed to Stockholm, a city that offered an abundance of attractions, from biking around its charming streets to taking a small boat to explore some of the 24,000 islands that make up Sweden's archipelago, not forgetting the thrills of Grona Lund amusement park. Upon our early arrival in Stockholm, we were struck by the city's air of sophistication, with people dressed in suits and tuxedos, exuding a serious attitude. Winter weather in Stockholm wasn't ideal, with only two hours of sunlight, making summer the peak tourist season. To make the most of our visit, we opted for biking as it allowed us to explore the city swiftly and in an eco-friendly manner, aligning with Sweden's strong commitment to maintaining clean air. The bike ride along the water offered breathtaking views, immersing us in the scenic beauty of the surroundings. Interestingly, while there are actually 221,000 islands in Sweden, only 24,000 are accessible to the public. Despite this, biking gave us the sense of seamlessly hopping from one island to another, enabling us to visit ten of them in just 30 minutes. One of the islands that captured our hearts was Vaxholm, a lush green paradise with a rustic charm. Although there weren't many activities to partake in, we enjoyed leisurely walks, soaking in the island's tranquil ambiance. Grona Lund, Sweden's most popular amusement park, beckoned us with promises of excitement and fun. Unfortunately, my enjoyment was cut short when I sprained my neck on the very first ride. The injury took time to heal, and I endured some discomfort, but it didn't dampen the overall enjoyment of the trip. Despite the neck mishap, our visit to Stockholm was a delightful experience filled with memorable adventures and unique encounters. We left the city with cherished memories and a desire to explore more of Sweden's natural wonders and cultural treasures in the future. Our next destination on our journey was Bergen, a picturesque city adorned with snow-capped mountains, majestic waterfalls, and iconic UNESCO buildings. One of the highlights of Bergen is the cable car that takes you from the city's base to the summit of Floyen, a tall mountain offering breathtaking panoramic views. Along with its natural beauty, Bergen also boasts a rich history, making it a well-rounded and captivating city in my opinion. However, the main highlight of our entire trip was the boat ride from Bergen to Flam, often hailed as one of the best boat rides in the world, and I couldn't agree more. The awe-inspiring Norwegian Fjords completely transformed my perspective on the world. It's truly beyond comprehension how immense and astonishingly beautiful this part of the world is. The sheer majesty and tranquility of the Fjords left an indelible impression on our hearts, reminding us of the incredible wonders that nature has to offer. The pictures just speak for its self. From the sun-kissed beaches of Tossa de Mar to the enchanting islands of Sweden, every moment felt like a precious treasure. The ultimate gem of our journey, however, was undoubtedly the once-in-a-lifetime Fjord experience. Witnessing the breathtaking beauty and immensity of the Norwegian Fjords was an awe-inspiring and soul-stirring encounter. The memories of those majestic landscapes will forever hold a special place in our hearts. As we bid farewell to our unforgettable adventure, we carry with us a wealth of cherished memories, each destination leaving a unique impression on our hearts. The trip may have come to an end, but the experiences and joy we shared will stay with us, inspiring us to explore and appreciate the wonders of the world in all their splendor. Spain Trip Summer 2023 (Part 1)7/21/2023 Our journey began in Barcelona after enduring a long 12-hour flight from SFO. While our main goal was to visit the enchanting east coast of Spain, known as Costa Brava, we decided that the most efficient way to travel along the coast was by renting a car. Our first destination was the charming town of Lloret de Mar, a perfect place to unwind and swim in the inviting turquoise waters. We found a lovely beachfront Airbnb in Lloret de Mar, which served as our base for the next leg of the trip. The following day, we headed to the iconic Tossa de Mar, renowned for its stunning beaches. With temperatures soaring to 102 degrees, we happily enjoyed ice cream to cool ourselves down. Afterward, we explored the town of Sant Feliu de Guixols, less touristy but rich in history and coastal charm. We then visited Palamos, a small beach town with fewer attractions, but its neighboring city, Parafrugell, offered a livelier atmosphere with numerous beaches and restaurants to choose from. Our next stop was the serene town of Begur, where many retirees have found their tranquil haven. Despite braving the pounding rain, we hiked up a hill and were rewarded with a breathtaking view of the coastline. Begur's medieval staircase was partially flooded, but we managed to climb it, capturing unforgettable moments with our cameras. As night fell, we retraced our steps back to Lloret de Mar. The longest road trip of our adventure took us to Cadaques, a curvy 1.5-hour drive through the mountains. Although the views were spectacular, the constant turns left us feeling hot and queasy. As soon as we reached our destination, we hurried to find some ice cream to rejuvenate ourselves. We also stumbled upon a winery atop one of the mountains near Cadaques, complete with a trampoline and hammocks, and surprisingly, there wasn't a soul in sight. After a relaxing time there, we returned to Lloret de Mar for our final night, where we treated ourselves to an authentic Spanish meal, savoring paella, croquettes, and other delightful Spanish delicacies.
